Another Early Morning Mishap

Internet,

It was quite clear that I need more sleep and less work when I had another early morning misstep today.  While attempting to shave, I kept wondering why the blade of the razor was so dull...until I realized that I had left the protective cover on it.  Duh.  No wonder it didn't seem to be working.  I believe this will be a long week.

Early Morning Mishap

Internet,

I was very tired this morning as I got ready for work, and that has been a trend for a few weeks now. I'm always very tired. Evidence of exhaustion: holding car keys in one hand and garage door opener in the other, hitting the button to open the garage door as I walk outside, and then accidentally pressing the garage door button again instead of the "unlock" button on the car remote. Result: walking into garage door with my forehead as it shuts.

I'm sure my neighbors were laughing. And now it's shortly after 8pm, and I'm already in bed for the night in the hopes that there is no repeat performance in the near future (or ever).

Holy Week: Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday is one of my favorite church services each year, and tonight was no exception. I love evening services because they usually are quiet and peaceful times to reflect on my faith.  Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper with the apostles and then moving into the time that Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane.  And tonight, this was one of my favorite songs:

Odds'n'Ends

Internet,

I took my heavy woolen mittens out of my bag today.  I am fearful that, even though it is supposed to be 60 degrees tomorrow, this is a Very Unwise Decision.

While driving, I no longer choose lanes for speediness or how soon I will have to turn.  Instead, if traffic allows (and it usually does because I only drive to and from work very early or very, very late), I choose based on potholes.  I do my uttermost to dodge them all, which is really quite a game this year (worse than most).  This is one of my few entertainments these days (see mention of work hours, above).  Also: emailing the city's pothole "helpline" really does get results, and quickly.  There are just too many of them everywhere.

I am very, very busy at work...earning comp time.  (And actually working, of course.)

The stacks of bills are up to my earballs.  The problem with this whole situation is that 1) the DFL keeps calling this an "unsession."  At least 90% of that stack is not repealing anything, I promise.  The stacks cover all of the bills (budget and policy) from last year and this year that I am responsible for (and my responsibilities have not changed from one year to the next), and 2) session last year was about 2 months longer, so the DFL are cramming more work into a shorter period of time (see mention of work hours, above).  This is not good governing.

Finally, I'm so tired lately that I am going through the motions on certain things.  Sometimes over and over.  Like yesterday when I'm pretty sure I put concealer under my eyes twice while getting ready for work.  I probably needed it, though, so all ended well.

That is all for now, Internet.

Fun Fact: Natural Alarm Clock

Internet,

Have you ever tried to help yourself get up and out of bed in the morning by fine-tuning your body's own natural alarm clock?  I have.  Lately it's been my goal to drink just the right amount of water at bedtime to cause me to actually have to get up right when my alarm clock goes off…not too early…not too late.  It's a very fine line and, at this point, not an exact science.

Fun Fact: Fruit Flies

Internet,

Even though it's colder than Mars in Minnesota these days, fruit flies can live throughout the winter as long as they're indoors.  Who knew they're not just a summer thing?

Fun Fact: Bearnaise Sauce

Internet,

I made a fascinating discovery: if you accidentally microwave a small container of bearnaise sauce (the glorious adopted child of Hollandaise sauce), you make a little mini-souffle.

Word to the wise: don't accidentally microwave the small container of deliciousness with your leftover meal.
