Odd Detail about the Cement Man

How does one go from playing the trumpet with Ray Charles to becoming a cement man? I learned yesterday that the man who re-did our front steps used to play in RC's band for like 8 or 12 years. I never got the chance to ask him about that, but I am curious how one goes from playing a horn in a band to pouring concrete. Hmmmm. Very interesting. And, of course, what great conversation our new steps have been!
