There is hope. Linnea has completed over one full year of a Resolution. She resolved to do something last December - and even started it a little early, before January 1 - and she did it. 2005 was a good year. If she could do just this one task, there is hope that she can complete another, more challenging task in 2006. Sure, you might say it only took her 20-some years to be able to do it. But instead, she is looking at the positive aspects: start small and work her way up to the bigger things. She might finally learn to play the organ, speak a new language she didn't just make up, or better yet, pray more diligently, really delve into studying her Bible the way she should. You know? Everyone has high hopes, and hers have increased for 2006 due to one small item she can check off her New Year's 2005 Resolution list. (and the only one she can check off mentally, since she believes she threw the old one away in, oh, February, and has no clue what else was on it.)
*drumroll please*
She has flossed her teeth every day for a year.
(Minus the handful of days when her arm was in a sling or she ran out of dental floss.) Doesn't this make you hopeful? That you, too, could have better dental hygiene in 2006? It might not be a full-fledged dental hygiene revolution, but you know. Or maybe something more grand, like pray more diligently that Linnea makes more meaningful resolutions and sticks with those? Eh, whatever. Let's not go crazy, now. Let's stick with something plausible.
