There's a Strib article today that talks about my orchestra conductor. Every word is true: he's a great guy. He's the one I played for back in my youth symphony days, and he's one of the main reasons I still play in an orchestra today. We're always teasing him about getting a hair cut, and he's always giving us a hard time about snow (or our lack thereof). (One thing not mentioned in the article is that he's a ski instructor at one of our tiny little hills here in the Twin Cities, and has been for-pretty much-ever.)
And speaking of that orchestra, I'm done for a while. We finished our last performance of the regular season on Sunday night. I won't be playing this summer (too many other commitments and trips and stuff), and it will be nice to have a break. But I cannot tell you how much fun it was to finally play Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto. Love, love LOVE that piece.
